“Dark Matter”
Apple TV+ is releasing their newest science fiction series, “Dark Matter,” starring Joel Edgerton. The series, based on the novel of the same name and created by Blake Crouch, follows a man who is abducted into an alternate version of his life. He must embark on a journey to return to his family and save them from him himself. Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Oakes Fegley, and Dayo Okeniyi also star (read our review).
Release Date: The series premieres May 8 on Apple TV+.
“Doctor Who”
Ncuti Gatwa stars as the latest iteration of the “Doctor” in the upcoming season of “Doctor Who” from returning showrunner Russell T Davies. Gatwa is the 15th Doctor, accompanied by new companion, Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson. Davies originally worked on the series between 2005-2010 as a part of Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant’s run. The season will follow the Doctor and Ruby’s misadventures through time and space.
Release Date: Season 14 premieres May 11 on Disney+.
“Interview with a Vampire”
Based on the novels by Anne Rice, “Interview with a Vampire” returns for its second season. Jacob Anderson stars as the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, with much of season one spent detailing his life with maker and lover, Lestat de Lioncourt, played by Sam Reid. Season two sees Louis recounting his adventures in Europe and his meeting with the Vampire Armand. Eric Bogosian, Delaniey Hayles, and Assad Zaman also star.
Release Date: Season two premieres May 12 on AMC+.
“Bridgerton” (Season 3: Part 1)
Following in the vein of the final season of “The Crown,” the third season of “Bridgerton” is splitting into two parts. The series once again shifts focus to a new pairing, this time with Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton as Penelope and Colin. Based on the Julia Quinn novels, season three is based on “Romancing Mister Bridgerton” and follows Penelope as she tries to get over a past love and rebuild her confidence.
Release Date: Season 3 premieres May 16 on Netflix.
