While she may not have been able to join Olivier Assayas‘ “Sils Maria,” with the stars unable to align for her to take a role, Mia Wasikowska is now aiming to take on her first blockbuster role since breaking out in “Alice In Wonderland.”
The Wrap reports that Emma Stone has been forced to drop out of Guillermo Del Toro‘s “Crimson Peak” due to scheduling, and that if her calendar can get sorted, Wasikowska will step in. Hard to argue with that switcheroo there. Plot details on the gothic horror/haunted house flick are being kept under wraps right now, but the trade has learned that Benedict Cumberbatch and Jessica Chastain will play siblings, while Wasikowska — should she land the role — will play “a young author named Edith Cushing who discovers that her charming new husband is not who he appears to be.” And oh yeah, Charlie Hunnam has a lead part too.
So, basically: cast remains awesome, movie remains promising, and this will shoot in early 2014.
