Zack Snyder Has A Vision For At Least 6 'Rebel Moon' Movies

Writer/director Zack Snyder always has ambitious plans for his movies, and when it comes to his brand new science-fiction space opera series “Rebel Moon,” the filmmaker’s thinking isn’t veering far off from the audacious. Just one day before the second installment’s release, “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver,” Snyder has said that he has plans for up to six ‘Rebel Moon’ movies.

In a recent interview with RadioTimes.com, Snyder opened up about the status of the series and where he would like it to head next. “I guess four makes sense. Four or six movies, depending..” the filmmaker said. “I guess it’s whether or not every time we make one of these movies, we make two, that’s the question.”

He then continued on by saying, “We were talking about it the other day and I was like, would an audience be disappointed if they only got one movie now from Rebel Moon? Would they be like, ‘Oh, it’s one now? Great.’

Although a potential third film in the franchise has yet to be officially greenlit, Snyder knows precisely what he hopes to happen, “We absolutely have the story all set; we did all that work,” he explained. “We wrote a treatment for the movie, so we’ll see how we go ahead.”

If you’re a huge “Rebel Moon” fan, however, you should know that Snyder isn’t planning six full-length feature films in the series, but rather, three movies in total with R-rated director’s cut editions for all three, so maybe that’s the big caveat here.

“Rebel Moon” centers on Kora (Sofia Boutella), a young lady who moved to a peaceful farming colony and has an enigmatic past.

However, she is compelled to act when it is threatened by the troops of the despotic Regent Balisarius (Fra Fee), especially his goon Admiral Noble (Ed Skrein). To defend herself, she searches for fighters from nearby planets.

In the same interview, Snyder talked a bit about what fans can expect to see in the second installment., “I think the first thing is that people are going to really get this next chapter that really takes and answers all these questions from Part One,” he clarified. “And really sort of completes this four-hour experience. And I love that we were able to do this insane third-act battle. That’s just completely crazy.”

“Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver” will be released on Netflix globally on April 19, 2024.
